Back to the Illegible Bachelor Pad is a performance art piece by James E.C. Buxton attempting to fuse writing and acting. It took place in the African Arts Area of the Sainsbury's Centre for Visual Arts in Norwich on Wed 7th Feb 2007. It charts the journey of a young explorer from the late 19th century in search of David Livingstone, teleported into the present day, he uses his typewriter to log his reaction to the displacement of African art objects surrounding him. A book of his journals including illustrations by Patrick F.M. Fenton taken during the peformance is available.
